“Maybe It’s Time to Shut Those Agencies Down”; Nunes Discusses Newly Released ‘Smoking Gun’ Documents

[Opinion} Recently released documents from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence have raised even more concern (if possible) to Congressman Devin Nunes (R-CA), the former Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, his worst fears about the politicalization/weaponization of our intelligence community.

Nunes, now the ranking member of the HPSCI, is and has been a member of the Gang of Eight making him privy to the most sensitive of information.

He is generally credited with being the first and, for a long time, the only member of Congress, charged with oversight of the intelligence agencies, who was willing to call for an investigation of these powerful forces.

Yesterday, the Patriotic Congressman appeared with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on her show, Sunday Morning Futures, where he lambasted the intelligence agencies for slow-walking or outright blocking evidence of their malfeasance.

Nunes’s comments were made following a bombshell memo released by the Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe addressed the memo to Chairman Lindsey Graham of the Senate Judiciary Committee. It is important to remember that the memo also states that this information may be Russian disinformation and was not confirmed to be 100% true, but rather raw intelligence.  In it Ratcliffe stated that “U.S. intelligence agencies had intercepted Russian intelligence agencies discussing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s authorization of a plan to link President Donald Trump to the Kremlin’s hacking efforts.”

Moreover, Ratcliffe wrote that the U.S. intelligence community’s  referral to the FBI mentions the “approval of a plan concerning U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private mail server.

Facebook’s ‘fact checker’ Lead Stories, insisted that the memo was ‘Russian Claim,’ and relied ‘Rachel Cohen, who is communications director for Sen. Warner, [who]  tweeted this response:

It should be noted that Senator Warner would likely be a coconspirator if the information were to turn out to be factual.  Lead Stories, the arbiter of truth on Facebook, over ruled the Director of National Intelligence, stating ‘Director Ratcliffe later issued a statement countering the claim that it was “Russian disinformation.”‘

To be clear, this is not Russian disinformation and has not been assessed as such by the Intelligence Community. I’ll be briefing Congress on the sensitive sources and methods by which it was obtained in the coming days.’

Lead Stories still marks the memo as a ‘Russian Claim.’

So to be clear, we are not suggesting the memo is veritas, but rather, raw, unfiltered intelligence which could be true, or could be false.  The memo is not proof of Hillary’s guilt or complicity in the events mentioned.

If we look at the timeline of events surrounding the July 26th date in the memo supports Nunes’ contention and demands transparency.  For that we turn to Sundance at the Conservative Treehouse…

-The July 26, 2016, a Clinton foreign policy advisor is pushing this narrative to CIA Director John Brennan.

-July 28, 2016, CIA Director John Brennan pushes the Russian conspiracy narrative into the oval office and briefs President Barack Obama.

-July 31, 2016, FBI Agent Peter Strzok launches the “Electronic Communication” which officially begins the Trump-Russia investigation.  [LINK]

Then on August 5, 2016, former Acting CIA Director and Clinton campaign advisor, Mike Morell publishes an op-ed in the New York Times, fueling the Russian conspiracy narrative:

…”In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation.”…  (~Mike Morell)

Admittedly, this is not conclusive proof of a conspiracy between HRC, former CIA Director Brennan, and the broader intelligence community but there’s more there, there than the fact that a man named Michael Cohen – not the Michael Cohen associated with Donald Trump – visited Prague.

That meeting took place on June 9th 2016 in Trump Tower.  However, video and images show that 5 days later, June 14th 2016, Ms. Veselnitskaya was a guest of former Obama administration Russian Ambassador Michael McFaul in Washington DC for a House of Representatives hearing on U.S. Policy Toward Putin’s Russia.  [Video HERE – and Video HERE]

Here’s Nunes’ comments yesterday…

Rep. Devin Nunes: The documents that are underlying that we now have seen, I’ve only seen a few of those. They’re definitely smoking guns.

That information definitely needs to be made available to the American public. And from what I understand there’s even more underlying evidence that backs up what director Ratcliffe puts out… You have corrupt officials.

And I think that’s the point here. Are you going to go back to elect somebody like Biden who just the other night, Maria, had the audacity to go after President Trump for once again, for what? I think he said that he had Putin wrapped around his finger.

And then he didn’t answer the question on why did his son get $3.5 million from a Russian oligarch with ties to Putin? If Ivanka Trump had bit a Big Mac in Red Square by a Russian oligarch they would have locked her up and said this is evidence of collusion.

Here you have the media which is the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party ignoring all of this! Ignoring all of this for the last four years.

And now you have from a debate stage you have, “Why did your son get paid $3.5 million from a Russian oligarch?” So here you have them blaming Republicans this whole damn time for having something to do with Russia when THEY have something to do with Russia!

I think they believe it is OK for them to take all this money and grift. And they’ll just take it and accuse Republicans of doing it to cover up their tracks… And now we know the Clinton Campaign created all of this because they knew the 33,000 emails were out there… So what did they do?

They created a sick fantasy… Every Republican should be saying, “This is over! We want every damn bit of evidence every intelligence agency has. Or it’s maybe time to shut those agencies down. Because at the end of the day our liberties are more important than anything else we have in this country and they have been stampeded over by these dirty cops and the Democratic Party and the media who fails to report on it.

Question for rabid Democrat voters; Are you really okay with our intelligence agencies adopting the corrupt tactics of the East German Stasi or the Soviet KGB?

Final Disclaimer for the ‘fact checkers’ … we are reporting and commenting on declassified documents by the Director of National Intelligence as well as statements of by the DNI and the Republican member of the House Intel Committee.  We are not claiming that it has been proven that the Russian Collusion narrative was a plan cooked up by HRC.   The fact I have to add all these disclaimers to statements made by government officials because they are not leftist is perhaps the best illustration of how out of control Facebook’s ‘fact checking’ program has gotten.  But hey, that’s just, like, my opinion, man.
